Rain:186: Flux

(Redirected from 186:Flux)

Synopsis

Gavin talks with Maria about having a crush on Rain.

Author Notes

Read all of the dialogue very closely, and we actually learn quite a bit about Gavin here. Some “Gavinny goodness”, if you will.

And ooh… Another short set of black and white scenes that portray past events in the story. Heh, I guess if this were an anime, this chapter would be like the dreaded “recap episode”. Thankfully, it’s easier to get away with this stuff in comic form so that it’s not annoying or slowing things down too much.

The first flashback panel is from when Gavin discovers Rain’s identity and sulks about it (page 23 – Friends…). The second is when Rain explains the transition process to Gavin and why it’s so important (that being the aptly named page 93 – Transition). The final flashback panel (from page 129 – Tag Along), refers to a point in which he tried to dissuade Kylie from pursuing Rain… though Gavin himself may not have realized he was doing it at the time.

Personally, I'd rather her be a lesbian.
If she's not into guys, I have no shot and that's a load off my mind.
If she is, I'll be stuck with my crush... and my complex.
Wait! Even after finding out who and what she is, though? Gavin, are you...?
Gay? No.
I was gonna say bi...
No to that too.
It's kinda confusing, actually. Before I knew who Rain really was, my feelings for her were purely physical. No matter what she is, I can't deny that Rain is cute. But I learned the truth, and my crush waned.
But then there was that night she stayed over at my place a while back. She told me she wanted to go all the way: get the operation and be a real woman someday. You know, lady parts and all.
Anyway, it kinda threw my emotions into flux, and I think I like her again. And that's all there is to it.
I mean, I guess I'd have to wait around for a while. But that's why you don't really hear me talking about it all that much... or ever.
I don't know if that just means I'm desperate though. You know, I've never had a REAL girlfriend. And nothing personal, but dating a lesbian isn't nearly as cool as most guys seem to think it is.
