Rain:611: Burning Building

(Redirected from 611:Burning Building)

Synopsis

Rudy says he doesn't expect Rain to admit her feelings to Emily, while Gavin asks Ky about his meeting with Drew.

Author Notes

Here's a little behind-the-scenes for you.  The Kylie/Drew meetup was in fact scripted for the previous chapter.  I swear that scene is cursed though.  I wrote, rewrote, scrapped, wrote again, and finally wrote once more that scene to make it work.  When I was finally satisfied enough, Photoshop crashed on me twice in the making of said scene, losing my work in the process.  Then, while I was on my sick hiatus for two months, I actually considered writing it as a side piece in prose.  I lost that too.  I'm so frustrated with the scene for putting me through all this.  And if I didn't think it was important, I would totally leave it out completely.

So, if you think it's a strange decision to go back and talking about this scene after the fact, instead of just posting it in real time where it would fit chronologically: you're right.  Because I wanted to post it in order.  All existence was just against me on this one for some reason.

There are actually a lot of other things to take note of on this page.  I just needed to vent that out, and now seemed like a good time.

Transcript

I don't see them working out anyway. Rain would have to tell her how she feels first. And that girl's so shy, she'd be too afraid to tell people to run from a burning building for fear of bothering them.
You joke, but she outed herself to Drew of all people. Well, her orientation, anyway. She's coming out of her shell quite a bit.
As for Rain and Emily dating...? Who knows? Stranger things have happened.
Speaking of Drew... how'd that go, Ky?
You've been so silently texting over there, I kinda forgot you were here.

Gavin is sitting at the next table due to a lack of seats

Oh? Did you meet up with Drew recently, Ky?
Yeah. Yesterday.
I'm sure that was a disaster.
It wasn't bad, per se, but ... Well, I was in girl mode, and that kinda blew his mind...
