MIS:134: Meanwhile

Synopsis

The Little Bastards take inventory of what they took, and realize with little doubt that they'd hit the wrong dorm.

Author Notes

Meanwhile, our thieves take stock of what they've gotten today.

Context is given for some of the more odd things taken, but the end result is... it's not much. With the exception of the medallion and maybe the crest, nothing is terribly valuable. But Jude saw a language they didn't recognize and thought it was some ancient script (it's not). Harley just clumsily forgot to put something they were looking at back down. And Arc is a child who found a toy that reminds her of her mom (Arc is signing "mother" in panel 5, by the way).

Perhaps the most intriguing one is actually Rhys who took UsaMaMa-chan because he too is Unbound! He knows exactly what it is. It's hard to say why he took it at this time (since he doesn't say), but it is this detail that highlights to him that the kids in Golem Hall probably aren't nobles.

Oh, and the last part under Chapter End reads "Oh, sure. Now they realize." XD

And we'll leave it at that for now. This is the last page for the chapter. This will be followed by a three week "not quite hiatus" in which starting next week new bios will be added to the Characters page on post days (while I continue to work on my Chapter 5 buffer). Ideally, by the time that's all done, I'll be set and ready to just jump into posting Chapter 5 right after.

Meanwhile...

Okay. Some of you have some explaining to do.
Why the photo?
I picked it up to take a closer look 'cause I thought the nereid girl was cute. And then we were leaving so fast, I forgot to put it back down.
She is cute, to be fair. They both are. Still, we tend to go for things with monetary value rather than sentimental. Cute or not, there isn't much we can do with this.
I know, I know. It was an accident.
And the plush? Was that an accident too, Arc?

Arc signs mother

She says her mom gave her one like that when she was little.
And the paper, I took.
It's a language I don't recognize, so I want to learn what it says. Maybe it can help me.
I can tell you what language it is, but I'm sorry to say it probably won't break your curse.
R-really?
I can't begin to know how to read it, but I'm pretty sure it's Japanese.
And I feel confident about that because this thing is from Japan too.
I remember this. And lots of others like it.
Back before I came here...
Bonnie...
One of the kids in Golem Hall might be a demon. And I think another might be an Unbound like me.
I don't think these kids were nobles.
I know. I was starting to think that too.
Especially after that lady mentioned a Dragon Hall.
Shit... We messed up, huh...
