MIS:89: Different

Synopsis

The Pages respond positively to Chiaki's news, for the most part.

Author Notes

Belial: "I didn't think much of this before, but here you are, so I guess it's real."

Micah: "You're just like us, but different."

Theo: "Aliens."

Keegan: "......"

Verity: *still crying*

Also, holo-human finally gets canonically defined (I explained it in a past blurb, but I wanted to make sure it got into the dialogue too!). It was first mentioned at the beginning of the chapter when I realized I'd need a specific word for this. And to reiterate, it is basically just the term to describe anyone who isn't demi-human (holo means "whole", demi means "half"). That said, do bear in mind that holo-humans and demi-humans alike all classify as humans.

Also also, the purple thing (aka UsaMaMa-chan, Chiaki's virtual pet) is acknowledged. As is her use of honorifics. Belial (or should I say Bee-chan?) seems to love the idea, in fact. Chiaki doesn't even know about demons and their name situations, but seems to have stumbled into saying just the right thing.

Also also also, we'll see Nagisa and Eiji next time.

Lots of big things on this page! Let's hear your takeaways! ^_^

I've heard of Unbounds, but I never read up on it much, and don't know any personally.
Until now, I guess. I just always thought it was a myth.
In that regard, it makes sense if Nara wanted you to keep it secret. She probably just didn't account for you being bad at keeping secrets.
That, she did not.
It certainly is a lot to process. An entire other world...
But I like the idea of it. I want to believe it.
I find it a little hard to swallow, personally. If there really is another world, it seems strange that you look just like us. I always figured Unbounds would be a bit more... alien.
I think it adds up, though. Even if she's holo-human, she's different somehow.
Holo-human?
You’re like me and Theo. You don't have wings or tails or anything. You're not a demi-human, so you're a holo-human.
But my point stands. You're unique. Like how you always have that little purple thing with you.
Or the way you say "san" after everyone's name.
Wait. Are you doing that on purpose? I thought it was a tic or something. I didn't want to draw attention to it.
I-it's a sign of respect where I'm from. Should I stop? I'm not good at breaking habits, but if-
It's cool. I don't like my name anyway, so it kinda deflects a bit from it.
...... ...... ......
What if I shortened it to...
...Bee-chan?

Bee-chan is taken aback

Stars above, Chiaki! I don’t even know why but I love it! Thank you so much!
......Eh!?
