Rain:181: Spiteful

Synopsis

Debbie congratulates Emily on dumping Chase, and Emily wonders why everyone had a better time at her party than her.

Author Notes

Yup. Holly and Devon. Having them chat at the Halloween party was a pretty spur-of-the-moment decision more so to include two side characters who didn’t really do much overall during that chapter. But I dunno, when I saw them standing next to each other, I felt like it just worked. So, I hooked them up. Why not? It felt right. And what can I say? I’ve been enjoying developing the secondary characters.

But also, more importantly, Emily dumps Chase. After the Halloween party fiasco, largely caused by Chase, it shouldn’t be too surprising. Really, he’s lucky she didn’t report him to the police.

And as much as I feel bad for Emily (it sucks not being in a relationship when it seems like everyone else is doing so well), I admit I’ve been in Debbie’s shoes too (hating your friend’s partner so much you get satisfaction out of them breaking up).

Boy, one little kiss sure has bought her a lot of attention.
Well, isn't someone extra spiteful today? Are you really still hung up on this?
Eh. A litle. Mostly, I'm just trying to keep my mind off Chase. I dumped him yesterday.
Really!? Oh my god! That's great news! Congratulations, Emily!
Oh... I mean... I'm so sorry... You poor thing...
Guh. Where's Holly? I need her ditziness to balance you out.
You don't want to know...
She hooked up with Devon at your party. They've been pretty much sucking face ever since.
Why did everyone have a better time at my party than me!?
At least no one thought you were a drag queen.
