Rain:466: Hair

Synopsis

Kylie and Emily talk about hair styles they have had in the past. Emily asks Rain about her hair history, and Rain tries to avoid outing herself.

Author Notes

I added this page kinda last second. It's not terribly relevant, but I just wanted a good banter page before really jumping into the main topic with these three. I've sorta wanted an excuse to make the Kylie/pigtails nod too. You see, back in the original fantasy version of the story, Kylie wasn't genderfluid or anything. Just a very average girl. And she happened to have long pigtails. She was also taller, lankier, shyer, and in general, just a much less memorable character (she's practically a separate character now apart from the name, and much better off for it). So Emily's "different person" line is actually kind of accurate.

Rain's explanation in the last panel would be completely accurate too, while simultaneously still not outing herself to Emily. All things considered, Rain's hair really isn't THAT long for 4-5 years of growth (especially not compared to Emily there), but I seem to remember it took ages for my hair to grow pre-transition. It grows a lot faster now (ironically, almost too fast sometimes). I kinda didn't even realize that would happen. XD

Also, in case anyone wasn't clear on it, Rain is brushing Emily's hair here. Why? Because it's cute and I can totally see Rain asking to do so. ^_^

Have you ever considered straightening your hair, Emily? I think it'd look good.
It doesn't work. Trust me.
I need it wavy to hide that I actually have really frizzy hair. I used to have it short though.
Not as short as Ky's, but shorter than now. Wasn't so bad, but I think I like it better long.
Funny. I used to have really long hair. I'd wear it in pigtails everyday.
Really? I can't picture that.
You must've looked like a different person back then.
How about you Rain? Ever do anything different with your hair?
Uh... Kinda...?
I guess I started growing it in middle school. Still technically growing it, but it's been slow for me. I definitely like it better like this though.
