Rain:699: Girls' Day Out

Synopsis

Author Notes

Even though Emily is heading over to Maria, Chanel, Rudy, and Gavin (presumably, to talk to them about Rain), the focus remains on Drew and Debbie of all people.

Debbie struggles to understand why her best friend is hanging out with the less popular crowd lately. Especially Emily's recent tight friendship with Rain, considering she had a particular hate-on for when she was still in "Perfect Year" mode.

On the other hand, we have Drew, whom Rain basically came out to in order to help him understand his own orientation (although, he is still struggling with himself). This leads to him questioning what Rain later meant by "girls' day out" at the con, where Rain was pretty adamant about shooing them away to be alone with Emily. One can only imagine what must be going through his head.

Transcript

What the hell? Didn't she used to hate Rain? And since when does she like stupid nerdy shit like anime?
It's not stupid.
I wasn't talking to you!
Uh... sorry.
Wait! Come back. You knew about this. Was she with you too?
Not really. Rob, Randy, and I bumped into her and Rain at one point. Just the two of them. Rain said something about having a girls' day-
Oh my god! I'm surprised that it didn't register before!

Flashback to page 493:

I might prefer girls. I might not be attracted to boys at all. This stays between us though, okay?
Uh, nothing. I just realized I had homework over the break I never finished! Later, Deb!
