Rain:887: Thanks for the Offer

Synopsis

Todd demands Ana come to prom with him, despite the fact that they're both juniors and Ana already has a date and Todd won't even use her name.

Author Notes

Reintroducing Todd, the guy that makes everyone uncomfortable. I already explained this a bit on the chapter cover, but for anyone who doesn't remember Todd, he's a junior who bullied Rudy (both physically and emotionally) during the early portions of the story. Maria and Gavin both intervened in their own ways. Hence, he's been absent from the story for a very long time.

Hundreds of pages later, he finally returns to... ask Ana to prom!? What? Not even going into all the problems with his proposal (like how he doesn't call her by name or even really ask, for just a couple of the smaller examples), his handling of rejection is also pretty scary. And then there's the fact that this seems oddly pointless. They're both juniors at the school, and as has been mentioned, underclassmen cannot attend St. Hallvard's prom without being a senior student's guest.

So... why? What is this about? Does he just not know, or is there more to it? And is there any reason it would end up being Ana?

Hey, January Girl!

Ana is thinking to herself:

Are people really still calling me that?
We should go to prom together.
Do... I even know you?
Oh, wait. You're in my history class, I think.
Todd, right?
Sorry it took me a second. I don’t think we’ve ever actually talked.
Um... anyway, thanks for the offer, but I’m sorry to say I already have a date.
Hope you find someone though.
What? Who is it!?
Who’s your date!?
I, uh... what? Th-that’s not really your business.
Um... c-could you please maybe back up, please?
